Wei Tu Law Firm, which is affiliated with UK-based Stephenson Harwood, hires PE/VC specialist Simon Chen to lead its Shanghai branch.
The managing partner in Shanghai has been practising for 30 years. On top of PE/VC, Chen also specialises in M&A, bankruptcy and restructuring, capital markets and real estate. He is familiar with the semiconductor, biomedicine, new energy and car industries.
Before joining Wei Tu, Chen was the chief partner at JOIUS Law Firm and had previously worked at other law firms as well as private equity firms in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Jiangsu.
Chen took on bankruptcy and restructuring advisory roles in various organisations, was vice chairman of the Shanghai bankruptcy law research committee, and acted as the director of the Shanghai Bar Association’s bankruptcy and liquidation committee for three consecutive terms.
Wei Tu’s Shanghai branch was established in March this year. Aside from Chen, partner Joanna Jiang and two of counsel also work at this branch.
