K&L Gates has rehired Lu Guiping as a partner at the Hong Kong office to strengthen its international debt and equity capital markets practice.
Lu was a partner at K&L Gates from 2019 to 2021 before moving to Mayer Brown as a partner. Following Mayer Brown’s 2024 split into Johnson Stokes & Master and Mayer Brown, he remained with the latter at its Hong Kong office. Earlier in his career, he practised at Latham & Watkins and Haiwen & Partners.
Admitted in Hong Kong and the US state of Washington, Lu focuses on capital markets, emerging growth and venture capital, M&A and private equity transactions.
He has extensive experience in the debt capital markets, advising investment banks and issuers on a range of offerings, including high-yield and investment-grade bonds, convertible and exchangeable bonds, medium-term notes and liability management transactions. He also provides legal support for US and Hong Kong IPOs, follow-on offerings, financing transactions and US securities law matters.
Ryan Dwyer, Asia regional managing partner, said in a statement: “Clients across Greater China and the broader Asia region are seeking seamless support for multi-jurisdictional capital markets activity. Guiping’s track record spanning PRC, Hong Kong and US matters aligns squarely with that demand and with our strategy to continue scaling integrated transactional capabilities in Asia.”
The appointment follows the recent addition of asset management partner Huberta Chow to K&L Gates’ Hong Kong office earlier this month.
