Firms act on Jardine Matheson’s AUD3.4bn purchase of I-MED

Allens, Linklaters, Mallesons, New Zealand firm Chapman Tripp and Cooley advise on Jardine Matheson’s acquisition of 100% of Australian diagnostic imaging provider I?MED Radiology Network for AUD3.4 billion (USD2.43 billion).

Under the agreement announced on 25 May 2026, Jardine Matheson will acquire the entire issued share capital of I?MED from private equity firm Permira and other existing shareholders. The deal is expected to be completed in late 2026.

The acquisition also includes I-MED’s minority stake in medical radiology AI solutions company Harrison.ai, whose technology is used in brain and chest CT scans.

Allens, Linklaters, Chapman Tripp and Cooley advised the buyer Jardine Matheson.

The Allens team included M&A and capital markets partners Emin Altiparmak and Joshua Hoare; foreign investment regulatory partner Wendy Rae and M&A counsel Andrew Wong; banking, finance and debt capital markets partners Tim Stewart and Ben O’Hoy; regulatory and information technology partner Elyse Adams; competition, consumer and regulatory partners Carolyn Oddie and Felicity McMahon; employment and safety partner Sikeli Ratu; intellectual property partner Joel Barrett; real estate partners Carrie Rogers and Annabelle Aland; funds, superannuation and financial services partner Kerensa Sneyd; and disputes and investigations partner Joshua Anderson.

Allens and Linklaters are operating in alliance, while Chapman and Cooley provided legal advice from New Zealand and the US, respectively.

Mallesons advised Permira, with the team jointly led by private capital partner Mark McNamara and private capital and M&A partner Anthony Boogert.

Jardine Matheson’s announcement states that I?MED operates a network of 215 medical diagnostic imaging clinics across Australia and New Zealand, performing more than 7 million patient procedures annually. In Australia, I?MED has a team of more than 500 radiologists.
