Herbert Smith Freehills has expanded its Asia dispute litigation practice with the hiring of Paul Quinn and Truman Mak as Hong Kong-based partners.

Quinn, who is a former partner at Kirkland & Ellis’ dispute resolution team, is particularly experienced in advising auditors and valuers on negligence claims caused by collapsed businesses based in mainland China. He is also skilled in counselling on director’s duties, shareholder disputes and insolvency matters.

Mak, who has previously worked at Herbert Smith Freehills for six years, returns to the UK firm from Latham & Watkins. He focuses on financial sector disputes, contentious insolvency and cryptocurrency matters.

Herbert Smith Freehills’ Asia head of dispute resolution Simon Chapman said the additional partners would help keep up with clients’ demands for dispute services.
