Gordon Davidson, Sidley Austin’s former head of restructuring in Asia, and Fergus Saurin, ex-head of Kirkland & Ellis’ dispute resolution practice in Asia, have joined Broadfield’s first overseas branch in Hong Kong.

Davidson, with 13 years of experience in the legal sector, joins the UK firm as head of restructuring and insolvency in Asia and a member of the firm’s executive committee. He brought along a team of five from Sidley Austin and Baker McKenzie to Broadfield.

The Asia restructuring and insolvency team, dually based in Hong Kong and the UK, has advised debtors, as well as creditors and investors, such as Evergrande, Sino-Ocean and Sunac.

Saurin who bring 14 years of experience to Broadfield, will lead the firm’s dispute resolution and investigations practice in Asia. He primarily focuses on disputes involving private equity, capital markets and M&A, as well as advising on insolvency and restructuring matters.

Broadfield’s Hong Kong branch opened earlier this year and is led by managing partner Effie Vasilopoulo. She said the expanded team was “built to navigate the full life cycle of complex private capital and commercial matters”.
