Latham & Watkins, WongPartnership, Allen & Gledhill and Rajah & Tann have acted on a joint venture between Japan’s Tokyo Century Corporation and Singapore-listed OUE to develop the Lion City’s first zero-energy hotel at Changi Airport for an undisclosed amount.
Hotel Indigo Changi Airport will be located at Terminal 2 and is expected to be completed by 2028. The project marks Tokyo Century’s first outbound real estate investment in Singapore and signals the beginning of a strategic partnership with OUE for future developments in the region.
Latham & Watkins is representing Tokyo Century and project partner Salter Brothers, an Australian alternative investment fund manager, with Singapore corporate partner Michael Rackham leading the team. The firm also provided multi-jurisdictional advice on financing, tax and antitrust matters with partners Don Stokes, Simon Skinner and Adrien Giraud. Tokyo partner Hiroki Kobayashi provided co-ordination support and acted as a local point of contact.
WongPartnership is acting as Singapore counsel to Tokyo Century, with partners Felicia Marie Ng, Chiang Yuan Bo, Jerry Tan, Lesley Tan, Lam Chung Nian and Kylie Peh.
Rajah & Tann is advising the joint venture on financing aspects, led by partner Lee Xin Mei, while Allen & Gledhill is also acting on the transaction, with partners Chua Bor Jern and Victoria Leong.
Tokyo Century is a leading Japanese non-banking financial services company.
