Wintell & Co will set up its first overseas branch in Singapore in a move to develop its capital markets, compliance and criminal law practices.
The new office will serve as a platform to deepen the firm’s ties with legal service providers in Southeast Asia, and it will also assist Chinese companies to tap into expansion opportunities abroad.
The Lion City’s Ministry of Law has “approved in principle” the establishment of the foreign law firm. The ministry’s website states that law firms that have been “approved in principle” must register the business entity with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority before obtaining a foreign law practice licence in Singapore.
Wintell & Co has 15 offices in mainland China and has been affiliated with UK-based Holman Fenwick Willan since 2016.
