An updated version of the Singapore In-House Legal Counsel Pro Bono Guide has been launched in a collaboration between the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA), Pro Bono SG (PBSG) and DLA Piper.
The updated guide empowers in-house lawyers in Singapore to support marginalised communities through pro bono services, providing insights into the legal framework, liability considerations and resources to establish effective programmes.
The launch event was part of Pro Bono Weeks, an initiative led by PBSG to cultivate a vibrant pro bono culture within the legal community.
Serene Gan, chair of SCCA’s pro bono chapter, hailed the updated guide as a milestone in encouraging volunteerism within the in-house legal community.
The guide includes case studies showing the impact of pro bono initiatives contributed by Bloomberg and Accenture, recipients of the SCCA Heroes of Pro Bono Excellence (HOPE) Award 2024.
The event included testimonials from: Dinesh Dhillon, Pro Bono Weeks chair and partner at Allen & Gledhill; Viviene Sandhu, PBSG pro bono ambassador 2025 and co-managing partner at Clifford Law; Wei Dai, legal counsel at Bloomberg; and Melissa Koh, managing director, legal, Asean and China at Accenture.
The SCCA, PBSG and DLA Piper have been collaborating on the guide for nine years. The guide is available for download .
