Peter Brudenall has joined Lawrence Graham as a partner in its commerce and technology group. Brudenall, a former partner at Hunton & Williams in London, has significant experience in acting for India-based IT and outsourcing vendors.
Speaking to India Business Law Journal, Brudenall said that his decision to leave Hunton & Williams was based largely on its weak India strategy: “It was somewhat frustrating that the firm did not have a firm-wide strategy for promoting itself to Indian companies. By contrast, Lawrence Graham has a very international outlook and has been active in the Indian market for many years with a dedicated India group. That interest in India was a key reason for my joining the firm.”
Brudenall is keen to develop his technology and outsourcing practice at Lawrence Graham and hopes to introduce his India-based clients to its services.
Looking ahead, Brudenall says he expects there will be a good mix of corporate, technology and commercial work from Indian companies doing business in the UK and elsewhere. “The firm has extensive experience of advising Indian businesses on their international expansion and a track record of having acted on over a third of all IPOs for Indian companies or funds listing on AIM,” he said.
Lawrence Graham has offices in London, Dubai and Monaco. Its India group is headed by partner Sunil Kakkad and has lawyers with dual Indian and English qualifications.
