Moksha Bhat has been appointed as managing partner at AP & Partners, who will lead the firm’s operations and strategic direction.
Bhat, who is also the firm’s co-founding partner, told India Business Law Journal, “In this role, I will be expected to take the lead on managing the day-to-day operations and implement strategic initiatives at the firm.”
He has broad experience in the corporate law practice, with a strong focus on cross-border M&A, joint ventures, strategic and financial investments, and private capital transactions.
Bhat has been regularly advising multinational corporations, venture capital and private equity funds, and senior executives across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), and energy.
With dual qualifications to practise in India and New York, he has worked on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions with commercial insight and legal precision.
On the changes at the firm, Bhat confirmed, “This is more an internal realignment. Decision making at the firm was and continues to be consensus-driven within the partnership.”
“Until now, this was done informally and going forward we will look to build more of an institutional framework for this. The rest of the team continues in their respective roles.”
Given the change, the firm has confirmed that Anand Prasad and Bhat will co-lead the corporate practice along with Dushyant Kumar, while Arjun Sinha will continue leading the TMT practice.
Prasad remains as a senior partner and will lead the disputes practice along with NL Ganapathi. Romit Dey will be involved in the launch of the restructuring and insolvency practice. Lagna Panda, who recently joined as a partner, will focus on competition and data protection laws.
Commenting on the need for a more structured approach, Prasad said, “It was time to move from an informal manner of management to a formal structure and hence the [recent] decision.
“Moksha knows the firm from the time we set it up and the partnership knows that he will do a great job.”
