Introduction
Widely recognised as one of the top technology deal lawyers in the world, Rahul Kapoor has more than 25 years of experience with a focus on commercial, IP and technology transactions. He counsels clients on strategic alliances, joint ventures and corporate partnering transactions in the technology industry, including a focus on India-related matters.
Kapoor also handles digital transformation deals, standards body licensing structures, patent licensing, open-source software strategy, e-commerce and privacy, supply and distribution agreements, spinoffs and core technology licences, and IT outsourcing transactions. Focusing on IP strategic counselling, he also advises clients on IP issues in connection with mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and corporate financings.
Kapoor is the practice group leader of the Silicon Valley and San Francisco corporate transactions practice, and co-leader of the firm’s India initiative.
He has a degree in electrical engineering and worked for six years as an engineer before switching to law. In addition to practising law, Kapoor taught an IP strategy class for 10 years at the University of California Berkeley Law School.
