Introduction
John Chrisman is a partner with FBT Gibbons in Dallas. He has more than 37 years’ experience advising governments, companies and financial institutions on international capital markets (equity and debt) and M&A transactions, as well as on corporate investigations. Chrisman is recognised as a leading lawyer in India and has worked on more than 250 capital markets and M&A transactions in India. His legal and business experience spans more than 50 countries across six continents.
He has lived and worked as a lawyer in Dallas, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Singapore and Sydney. His industry experience includes entertainment, renewable energy, technology, manufacturing, mining and oil and gas, and he regularly works with clients operating in highly regulated and cross-border environments.
Chrisman is also a compliance and investigations lawyer. He focuses on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and sanctions compliance and investigations for Indian companies and Indian JVs and subsidiaries of US companies.
He is admitted to practice law in California, Texas and Washington. He has a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law with honours (Austin, 1988) as well as a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, 1985).
