Legal consultancy, The Grey Matter, has introduced an innovative legaltech solution called Mark My Matter, which automates law firm submissions to publishers and law firm ranking organisations.

The platform streamlines the handling of vast deal data, ensures jurisdictional consistency is flexible and fosters collaboration between teams.

Tanisha Deshpande, whose job title is “spark plug” at The Grey Matter, told India Business Law Journal, “Mark My Matter addresses two major challenges in the legal industry: the inefficiency of manual submission processes and the lack of centralised data management.”

Deshpande believes submissions for legal directories are often “time-consuming, prone to errors and stressful” owing to “tight deadlines and lack of process at the firm’s end”.

“Our platform streamlines this process by automating the population of deal submission forms, consolidating matter data in one centralised repository and ensuring consistency across offices,” she said.

Deshpande said the team was confident the new tool would cater to the diverse needs of firms. “Mark My Matter is designed with scalability and flexibility at its core, ensuring suitability for firms of any size, whether or not they have dedicated marketing resources.”

For smaller firms, it offers a user-friendly interface with immediate benefits. It builds system reliance, empowering lawyers to create a comprehensive data repository, supporting submissions, pitch documents and accolades. This levels the playing field, helping smaller firms to compete effectively and maintain valuable resources, she said.

“For mid-sized and large firms, the platform’s role-based access ensures seamless collaboration across offices and jurisdictions, while maintaining data security and efficiency. Admins can oversee workflows, while users focus on their specific tasks, ensuring smooth co-ordination and effective use of resources.

“Additionally, the platform is priced to be accessible for firms of all sizes, addressing a global challenge,” said Deshpande.

“One of the key strengths of Mark My Matter is its ability to bridge the gap between lawyers and marketing teams. The platform provides real-time updates and a centralised repository for all deal data, accolades and client references, ensuring everyone works with the same accurate information.”

It encourages lawyers to proactively input data, integrating it seamlessly into existing billing systems. Features such as automated reminders minimises confusion, enabling lawyers to focus on input, while marketing teams can manage co-ordination, fostering collaboration and meeting submission deadlines efficiently.

Merely streamlining data is not enough and The Grey Matter recognises this. Mark My Matter goes a step further and “transforms deal data and client portfolios into strategic assets”, she added.
