Introduction

Wang Hua focuses on trademark litigation and the protection of various commercial identifiers. She has handled more than a thousand litigation cases throughout her 17 years of legal practice. She is the head and founding partner of Huaran Law Firm and holds roles at the Beijing Lawyers Association (internet litigation committee), the Beijing E-Town Lawyers Association (IP committee), and the Beijing Trademark Association. Clients describe her as a lawyer who listens first, consistently prioritising their commercial objectives and delivering practical, enforceable solutions.

  • Wang has been recognised through awards such as Legalband’s “30 Under 30” (2016), “China’s Top 50 IP Lawyers” (2018), “Outstanding Trademark Lawyer” (2019), “Elite IP Litigation Team (2021),
  • “Beijing’s Top 10 Typical Trademark Litigation Cases” (from 2022 to 2024), and
  • “Leading Figure in Trademark Legal Services” (2025).

In trademark administrative litigation, she has successfully secured retrials and reversals before the Supreme People’s Court in multiple cases. The “Taishan Dadi” case was featured in the Gazette of the Supreme People’s Court as a precedent, establishing and clarifying the examination criteria for trademarks involving religious elements. The Binhe v Wuliangye case was recognised as a top 50 classic case of 2017. Her success in the “E Chang (Penguin Factory)” case on behalf of Tencent established legal protection for internet nicknames as trademarks, earning it a spot in Beijing’s Top 10 IP Cases of 2020. She has also secured well-known trademark recognition for New Oriental and other clients, strengthening their brand enforcement.

In civil infringement litigation, she has repeatedly secured full compensation awards for clients and resolved novel infringement models and challenges with creativity. In the Orion series cases, she took over after the client’s unfavourable first-instance judgment, achieving a remand for retrial and comprehensive victory, with the case selected as the “QBPC (Quality Brands Protection Committee) Best Case 2013”. She represented Hong Kong Wing Wah in defeating a RMB180 million (USD26m) claim and succeeding in the parallel administrative proceedings before the Supreme People’s Court. She also obtained full compensation awards for Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies brand. Her recent successes include representing Danish fashion brands combating unauthorised genuine goods resellers or daigous from the perspective of unfair competition, and winning a colour combination trademark infringement case that set protection standards for non-traditional trademarks. Both cases were selected for Beijing’s Top 10 Typical Trademark Litigation Cases in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Wang Hua has written forpublications including China Intellectual Property News and China Business Law Journal. She serves as a guest lecturer for IPForest and provides IP strategy consulting services to Fortune 500 companies.
