Introduction
Daniel Zhang specialises in securities issuance and listing (including IPOs), M&A, domestic and cross-border restructuring, and corporate compliance matters.
With extensive experience in the capital markets, Zhang has advised on a wide range of projects across various cutting-edge industries, including IT application innovation (Xinchuang), semiconductors, new energy, auto parts, equipment manufacturing, the military sector, consumer electronics, biomedicine, the internet, entertainment and finance. Leveraging his in-depth industry insights, he can accurately grasp the business logic and legal demands of various sectors. This enables him to deliver tailored services, consistently demonstrating his capacity to formulate innovative and constructive solutions for complex transactions.
Zhang has led or extensively participated in numerous high-profile, market-leading projects. In securities issuance and listing, he advised iSoftStone Information Technology (Group) on its NYSE privatisation, red-chip return, and subsequent ChiNext IPO;
- CETC Lantian Technology on its Star Market IPO, making it the first commercial aerospace stock;
- Shiyan Taixiang Industry on its board transfer, making it the first BSE–to–ChiNext transfer stock; and
- XD Inc, the operator of TapTap, on its HKEX IPO. In M&A and restructuring, he represented Taiwan-listed Catcher Technology on its strategic sale of two core Taizhou facilities to Lens Technology; Accton Technology in a complex cross-border restructuring of its domestic intelligent computing assets with Digital China;
- Shanghai Healthcare Capital on its strategic investment in MicroPort Scientific;
- China Resources Beer in its landmark RMB12.3 billion (USD1.79bn) acquisition of Jinsha Winery; and
- iSoftStone on its acquisition of server and computer businesses from Tsinghua Tongfang.
Zhang joined Zhong Lun Law Firm in 2012. He holds an LLM degree from the University of International Business and Economics.
