Introduction
Will Cai is the co-chair of Cooley’s China corporate practice and a founding partner of the firm’s Asia capital markets practice. He specializes in US and Hong Kong capital markets transactions and cross-border M&As. Over the past two decades, Will has worked on 100+ successful IPOs and follow-on offerings in the US and Hong Kong markets, with a focus on technology and new economy companies. In addition, Will has represented a significant number of leading new economy companies in their cross-border M&A transactions with an aggregate value of several billion US dollars, including many landmark deals.
Will has led IPOs across a wide range of industries. His representative work includes advising the underwriters of Seres Group, an automotive technology company specializing in new energy vehicles, on its Hong Kong IPO; WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, on its Hong Kong IPO (the largest Chapter 18C high-tech IPO to date); PATEO CONNECT Technology (Shanghai) Corporation, a pioneer in smart cockpit and internet-of-vehicles solutions, on its HKEX listing; and Butong Group, a designer and seller of nursery products, on its Hong Kong IPO. He also advised Bitdeer Technologies Group, a leading blockchain and computing company, on two convertible senior notes offerings.
From 1997 to 2003, Will worked for the Supreme People’s Court of China, where he acquired extensive experience and knowledge of the Chinese judiciary.
