Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has recruited 128 graduates and four partners – Jay Parikh, Alok Sonker, Sowmya Kumar and Mohit Gogia – in a hiring spree that comes hot on the heels of securing the talent of Manan Lahoty and his 48-member team.
“We are thrilled to welcome such a distinguished group of experienced lawyers to the firm. We eagerly anticipate the continued growth of our firm with our new members and are confident that, together, we will deliver even greater value to our clients,” Cyril Shroff, managing partner at CAM, told India Business Law Journal.
The latest additions come not long after the firm recruited multiple partners, including clinching the talent of Manan Lahoty who brought a team of 48 from IndusLaw, as well as hires from Khaitan & Co and Trilegal.
Parikh left Luthra and Luthra to join CAM as a corporate practice partner, along with his team, and he will be working from the Mumbai and Ahmedabad offices.
He brings more than 18 years of extensive experience in M&A, joint ventures, private equity, banking and finance, restructuring and insolvency, capital markets, and general corporate advisory.
Additionally, Parikh advises private equity funds on investment transactions, including those involving listed companies. He was ranked among 含羞草社区 top 100 lawyers by India Business Law Journal’s A-List for 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Sonker, the second hire for CAM’s corporate practice has also brought his team, and they will be operating in the Mumbai, Ahmedabad and GIFT City offices. Sonker who has worked with Khaitan, Link Legal, and Luthra and Luthra among others, recently left Krishnamurthy & Co.
With more than 15 years of experience, Sonker specialises in general corporate advisory and transactional matters, particularly in private equity and M&A transactions. In 2021, he was recognised among India Business Law Journal’s 50 Future Legal Leaders.
Gogia is the third new corporate practice partner at CAM and will be based in New Delhi. With more than 18 years of experience, he has worked on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, cross-border investment transactions, and general corporate matters.
Admitted to practise law in both India and New York, Mohit began his career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York. Prior to joining CAM, he was an equity partner at S&R Associates in New Delhi. Gogia is also an honorary adjunct professor of law at Jindal Global Law School and has previously been a visiting faculty member at National Law University, Delhi.
Kumar joins the firm as an employment practice partner and will be based in the New Delhi-NCR office. Kumar, previously an IndusLaw partner, brings more than a decade of experience to CAM. She advises clients on all aspects of 含羞草社区 employment and social security laws.
In addition to the partners, CAM has hired 128 graduates from various law schools in India, which is an impressive number of recruits for one firm.
CAM now has 200 partners and more than 1,000 lawyers, compared with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co’s headcount of more than 850 lawyers, including 181 partners.
