Introduction

Maurice Maulana Situmorang is a partner at Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (Dentons HPRP), specialising in corporate and commercial law, with a strong focus on mining and natural resources. He is Dentons Asean sector leader for the mining & natural resources business. He has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients across various industries, including energy and TMT. Notably, Situmorang led a Dentons HPRP team in the largest Series B funding round in Southeast Asia in 2021, raising USD170 million.

Situmorang has worked with various major companies in the mining and natural resources sector, including state-owned enterprises, private companies and public companies. His experience includes several major projects for PT ANTAM Tbk, the reintegration of PTPN Group (forming PalmCo and SupportingCo sub-holdings), and representing numerous key players of the oil palm plantation industry with their business growth and expansion involving complex cross-border deals. Recently, Situmorang led the laws, regulations and licenses task force of FKP-IKN (Forum KomunikasiPengusaha – Ibu Kota Nusantara), a non-profit organisation incorporated based on the collaboration between Indonesia’s New Capital City Authority with pioneer investors of Nusantara – Indonesia’s new capital.

Moreover, a client’s project – Collaboration of a Nickel Project in Papua – assisted by Situmorang’s team, was recognised as a finalist of M&A deal of the year in the ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2019.
