Introduction

Kurniawan Tanzil?is the co-founder and managing partner of SHIFT. Setting up and managing SHIFT has been as much of a personal journey as a professional one, and that sense of ownership shows in the way he approaches both the business and the people involved.

Before founding the firm, Tanzil?dedicated many years at one of Indonesia’s leading law firms, including five years serving as a senior partner. That experience provided him with a solid understanding of what clients need when dealing with complex legal matters. It also gave him a first-hand look at what a well-run firm looks like, and what it could do better.

Tanzil’s legal practice focuses mainly on banking and finance, which is supported by his strong knowhow and experience in corporate and commercial law. Throughout the years, he has advised clients on a wide range of transactions, from financing deals and project finance to mergers and acquisitions,?and debt restructurings. He has also handled matters in the aviation and TMT sectors as well as capital markets work such as bond issuances and IPOs.

He frequently assists international investors aiming to establish companies in Indonesia, guiding them in navigating the local regulatory requirements. Furthermore, he advises clients on employment matters helping them work through workforce matters in a legally compliant and practical way.
