Introduction

James (Jim) Bradley focuses on cross-border projects. He has participated in transactions involving several Southeast Asian countries including their investments into other world regions including North America and financing provided by entities situated in North America, Europe and Asia. Experienced in electric power and fuel supply, he has advised on development, project contracts, management services, financing, and operation and maintenance, for baseload projects and renewables projects and for hospitality and commercial real estate projects. He’s supported share and asset sale and purchases, joint venture and joint development arrangements, permitting and licensing, major contract risk allocations, enforcement and workout activities. After starting out with Hunton & Williams in 1994 in the United States, he arrived in Asia to work on a power project in May 2000 and has remained in Asia since, appreciative throughout of the collegiality and work environment of Hunton & Williams and lately Hunton Andrews Kurth.

Notable projects include:

  • Advising on development and structuring of an LNG to power project in the Philippines;
  • Advising on full documentation for coordinated engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and long term operation and maintenance arrangements, the concession agreement with Lao PDR, and power purchase agreement with EVN, and financing for the multi-award winning 600 MW Monsoon Wind Project in Lao PDR; and
  • Supporting investments by a major US-based NYSE listed private firm in connection with a 77-storey multi-use hotel, residential and commercial tower project in Bangkok, Thailand.

He was significantly involved with the 500 MW gross Quezon Power project and the 500 MW gross San Buenaventura supercritical project in the Philippines, the 250 MW projects of Leader Energy in Cambodia, two solar projects in Cambodia, the 78 MW Natural Energy Development project in Lop Buri, Thailand, among many others.

He has working knowledge of historical transactions and transaction issues, and has worked with many lawyers as local counsel in various firms in several countries.
